5 Ways to Be Thankful (and show it):

  1. Recognize—the things in your life for which you’re grateful (make your list as long as possible and/or make a daily practice of writing in a gratitude journal)
  2. Express—to someone in your life your appreciation of them (send a note, leave a voicemail, etc.)
  3. Give—a little gift to someone least expecting it (buy coffee for the person in line behind you, take a box of chocolates for the caregivers at a convalescent home or hospital, put a giftcard in the mail for your mail carrier, etc)
  4. Reflect—on difficulties you have overcome (and honor what/who helped you surpass the hardship)
  5. Reframe—how we approach our daily tasks to view them as gifts and privileges, and use the language that conveys such (i.e. “I get to wake up at 5am tomorrow!” “I am able to go to work.”)

Not only because the Thanksgiving season is upon us, but also because of everything going on in the world around us, now is the time for us to be thankful for who we have, what we have, and where we are in this moment.
