5 Ways to Engage Your Creativity

  1. Finger paint—There is something organic and fun about painting with your bare hands instead of a brush. Add sand, leaves, rice, or even oil to obtain different qualities, and enjoy the freedom of allowing your fingers to bring texture, color, and dimension to your canvas.
  2. Decoupage collageCall it a vision-board, dream-board, mood-board, or mosaic. Without any judgement or analysis, simply cut out, arrange, and paste together any collection of words and/or images that resonate with you. Appreciate this unique reflection of you.
  3. Update your Instagram—Explore your own personal living space in a new way, take a neighborhood walk, or embark on a local field trip or out of town excursion.  Grab your camera and open your eyes to nature, faces, still lifes, landscapes, abstract images, etc. Zoom in, zoom out… Each time you click change your angle. Play around with the filters, and share with your "followers."
  4. Cook up a storm—Dust off an old recipe book or find a new and interesting recipe online. Turn on some music, pour a glass of your favorite libation, and give yourself permission to make a mess. Try to explore ways to modify the recipes a little bit and enjoy the art of cooking (or baking).
  5. Freshen up your digs—Whether you want to focus your energies on reorganizing a shelf or drawer or if you feel inclined to rearrange an entire room, renew your perspective by refreshing and reviving your living space.
